
IT was almost a free for all fight at the convocation square of the Nasarawa State University, keffi, venue of the Nasarawa West Senatorial primary election when some delegates from Nasarawa west Senatorial district, protested for none inclusion of their names in the official list brought from Abuja for the senatorial primary of the zone.
The protesters set the convocation square of Nasarawa State University, Keffi into tense tension, anxiety and fight among the excluded delegates, making the APC officials from Abuja helpless on how to remedy to situation, which delayed the commencement of the primary.
It was, however, worst when the delegates whose names were not reflected in the fresh list brought by the APC National Officers almost disrupted the process of the primary when they were asked to walk out of the venue for the conduct of the exercise.
They refused to move out of the venue, insisting that, unless the original list initially produced by the party be brought, to allow them to participate in the exercise.
The unrest which lasted for about one hour forced the intervention of security personnel to maintain any breakdown of law and order as they shot on the air to calm the protesters.
Meanwhile, the APC national officer who addressed the delegates to throw more light on the controversial delegates list, however, asked them to all walk out of the venue to settle their disparity to allow them start the exercise.
Normalcy thereafter, returned where the delegates were accredited and subsequently assembled according to their local governments for the primary proper.

TribuneOnline observed that some of the APC stalwarts and stakeholders were not present at the primary election, as no reason was given of their absence.
The chairman of the Electoral committee for Nasarawa West Senatorial District, Hon. Obinna Nnorom who explained the rationale of the primary said the national headquarters of the party has directed the endorsement and subsequent affirmation of of Senator Adamu by voice vote, where the delegates said ‘yes’ for the candidature of Adamu.
He added, “those that are in support for the sole candidature of Senator Abdullahi Adamu should say yes, and those not in support should say no, the yes have it. By the powers conferred on me, I hereby declare senator Adamu as the candidate of the party for Nasarawa West,” he ruled.
Senator Abdullahi Adamu who is the serving senator representing Nasarawa West senatorial district emerged unopposed, due to his ardent support, loyalty and commitment to APC as a party and president Mohamaddu Buhari re-election bid.
According to report, Senator Adamu was very instrumental to President Buhari government and his re-election bid, hence, anything that will jeopardise the interest of Adamu would automatically affect the president not only in the state but the country in whole.”
Senator Adamu who was contesting with the immediate past commissioner of education, Alhaji Aliyu Ahmed Tijjani was asked to relax his ambition to pave way for the affirmation of Senator Adamu as the sole candidate of the party to the zone to the national assembly.
Senator Adamu was one of the pro-buhari senators in the national assembly that were giving automatic tickets by the party headquarters to return to the assembly due to the support and protection of buhari’s interest.
The decision of the national party leadership was received with administration by the people of the zoned for the express confidence on Senator Adamu, saying that in no distance time, the evidence of the APC leadership magnanimity would be evidence in the massive support and mobilization for the return of Senator Adamu.
Senator Adamu, however acknowledged that “before yesterday, there were two of us, but with the intervention by the panel from the national as indicated clearly and everybody must have heard or read in the media, the national Secretariat of our party released the names of all aspirants screened and those that were successful in the screening and this Senatorial zone I was privileged by the act of God to be the only aspirants who were cleared to contest, therefore I became the sole candidate.”
“I am great full that the party has recognized this Congress to endorse or to affirm the fact that I remain the only candidate to run for the election in 2019,” he said.
The APC senatorial candidate who could not hide his joy of thanksgiving to the party and deligates for the trust, assured that “we would continue to work to maintain the mission of APC, the philosophy and the manifesto of the APC.”
He also assured that they would work hard to every parts of the state to ensure that president Buhari and all the APC candidates at all levels of governance emerged victorious.
