The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) donated essential pharmaceutical drugs to two non-profit organisations, the Muslims Professionals in Da’awah Foundation and the Peace Care Foundation.
The donation, made by the NAHCON Commissioner of Planning, Research, Statistics, Information, and Library Services (PRSILS), Professor Abubakar A. Yagawal, at a ceremony held at the Hajj House in Abuja, according to the Hajj Commission, was part of its commitment to corporate social responsibility.
Speaking at the event, Prof. Yagawal highlighted the importance of supporting organisations that are dedicated to community service and healthcare delivery.
According to the commissioner, the donation was part of NAHCON’s broader initiative to contribute to the well-being of Nigerians, especially those who are actively engaged in improving health and promoting peace through Da’awah and other humanitarian activities.
He informed me that the donated pharmaceuticals were originally procured for use during this year’s Hajj operation, adding that after the successful conclusion of the Hajj, a surplus of these medications remained.
Yagawal asserted that the initiative underscores NAHCON’s dedication not only to the successful coordination of Hajj activities but also to making meaningful contributions to society through various philanthropic efforts.
Muslim professionals in Da’wah were represented by the National Amir, Umar Farouk Bello, while Dr. Aisha Sidiqi represented the Peace Care Foundation at the event.
In their separate responses, both Bello and Dr. Sidiqi expressed their deep gratitude to NAHCON for the generous donation.
They expressed the belief that the drugs would significantly aid in their ongoing efforts aimed at providing medical care to underprivileged communities and promoting peace and stability through their outreach programmes.
