THE National Council of Muslim Youth Organisations (NACOMYO) and the Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria (MSSN) have called on past members to support the organisations in living up to their mandates.
The National President of NACOMYO, Alhaji Kamaldeen Akintunde and National Amir of MSSN, Muhammad Jamil Muhammad, made the call at the presentation of three mini buses donated to the organisations by the Walin Shinkafi and Secretary to the Zamfara State Government, Professor Abdullahi Muhammad, at his official residence, in Gusau.
Alhaji Akintunde, who spoke on behalf of the two organisations, commended Professor Muhammad for the gesture, saying that the donation should be a challenge to his contemporaries who had benefited from the organisations in the past.
“This donation is a challenge to your contemporaries who have been moulded by MSSN and NACOMYO. It is charitable, benevolent and exemplary. I hope that others will emulate your commitment to the society that built you.
“This gesture is a demonstration of your commitment to the cause of Allah and a show of dedication to the service of humanity. It is also an appreciation of the efforts of MSSN and NACOMYO in your upbringing and who you are today”, Akintunde said.
He promised that the organisations would make the most of the vehicles.
While presenting the vehicles, Professor Muhammad said the donation was an appreciation of the organisations’ roles in his life.
“I can never forget the impact of MSSN and NACOMYO on me. When I was offered admission into the university in 1983, we didn’t know where to start and whom to follow.
“If not for the training and life-saving intervention we got from these organisations, it would have been a different story today”, Professor Muhammad said.
According to him, the meeting of the national leaders of MSSN and NACOMYO and the donation of the vehicles are a means for him to reconnect with the organisations and give back to the society.
The Zamfara SSG presented the keys and documents of the vehicles to the national leaders of NACOMYO, MSSN.
The vehicles are a Ford Galaxy and two Volkswagen Saharan buses.
