Mr Paul captures Warri with comedy concert

Paul Olope, better known as Mr Paul in the comedy industry recently hosted his yearly comedy concert in Warri tagged ‘Mr Paul On The Mic’ (No place like home) in August 11.

The sold out show, which got him a standing ovation at the end of the event had notable comedians take turns to crack up the audience with inspiring performances.

Mr Paul also gave opportunities to up and coming talents and during the show, as young comedians in Warri participated in a competition; the top three comedians won cash gifts and performed during the live show alongside other A-list comedians. The competition was sponsored by the office of the special assistant to the president on digital and creative economy.

Speaking to Tribune Online on the concept behind the show, he said, “I was born and bred in Warri, I started my comedy career in Warri, before relocating to Lagos, that is why the show is titled ‘No place like home’. The show is a way of giving back to the place I started from. That is why I held the comedy challenge competition to give a platform to up coming comedians.”

Paul Olope, a Warri bred comedian, with a career spanning over two decades has carved a niche for himself within the Nigerian comedy industry. He has headlined major shows within Nigeria like AY Live, Basketmouth Uncensored, Bovi Man on Fire, chronicles of Ushebebe, Alibaba January 1st concert, Igo Save Unusual etc.

He has also toured with Basketmouth and AY comedian for their year UK comedy shows.
He plans to take this his yearly shows to other parts of Nigeria for his fans to enjoy his talent.
