The National President of the Medical and Health Workers Union (MHWUN) who is also the paramount ruler of Opu-Nembe Kingdom, King (Dr) Biobelemoye Joy Josiah, Ogbodo VIII, has commended President Bola Tinubu for promising to prioritise education among other sectors of Nigeria’s economy.
Biobelemoye urged the president to ensure sustenance of huge investment of the Federal Government on the newly approved universities, which Federal University of Agriculture, Bassambiri (FUAB) is one.
He noted that the tertiary institution is a beacon of development and enlightenment that will lead to urbanisation, growth and better economic activities in the kingdom and therefore should be encouraged by ensuring its success. The King also praised those who played roles in ensuring the approval of FUAB and for siting the location of the university in his kingdom.
In a letter, Chief Edwin J. Asafibofori-Nateini, acting chairman, Opu-Nembe Council of Chief, thanked President Bola Tinubu, former president Muhammadu Buhari for approving the establishment of the university and appointing an indeginous professor of agriculture as its pioneer vice chancellor, former Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu, governor Duoye Diri, Chief Timipre Sylva and Senator B.W Degi, who played significant roles in the birthing of the university.
“The Opu-Nembe Kingdom will only be willing and glad to do all that is necessary in her domain in ensuring that this monumental project attains its maximum success. To this end, His Royal Majesty, King Ogbodo VIII, has transferred the land previously donated to house the Federal College of Education, Bassambiri (FCOEB) now to the Federal University of Agriculture, Bassambiri (FUAB), with additional hectares of land that will be included in the resurveyed document to reflect the FUAB status,” the letter read.
