Ijaw Youth Council (IYC Worldwide), Spokesman, Comrade Daniel Dasimaka in a statement said such persons in the Buhari government felt, the best way to abdicate responsibility for any wrong committed by anyone or institution is to drag Dr Jonathan’s name into it.
He recalled that in the last one month, several attempts have been made to implicate Jonathan in various scandals such as the State House Clinic Scandal which his administration was not responsible for the implementation of the 2015 Budget.
Comrade Dasimaka also cited the utterly ridiculous and lame attempt to blame the former president for the scandalous reinstatement and promotion of the previously exiled ex-Chairman of Presidential Task Force on Pension Reforms, Abdulrasheed Maina.
He said the revelation of both Maina’s immediate family and other any involvement as they claimed that it was actually the President Buhari government that courted and surreptitiously orchestrated Maina’s reinstatement.
The IYC Spokesman noted that “It is against this background that the IYC is calling on all Nigerians to wake up, see through the machinations of the Buhari government and resist the latest attempt to denigrate Dr Jonathan – whose major sin against the Buhari administration seems to be his commitment to conduct free and fair elections that facilitated their emergence – through the smokescreen of naming and inviting him as a witness in the Olisa Metuh trial.”
“For the records, we are not against the wheels of Justice moving smoothly in the determination of cases in our judiciary. What we are against is the politicisation of judicial process by trying to witch hunt and blackmail Jonathan or any citizen with the Judiciary as a guise.
The objective of this charade is to present Dr Jonathan as someone who does not respect Court orders; should he decide not to appear. Giving that the current President is notorious for his disrespect for court orders, the objective is to create a parallel between him and Jonathan.
If not, of all people on earth, how come Metuh suddenly decided that it is Jonathan he now needs as a witness, unless he is now working with his supposed prosecutors with the sole aim of maligning the former President in order to get a soft landing.”
Comrade Dasimaka, therefore, called on all Ijaw youths to resist any more moves to harass and embarrass Jonathan and/or any other member of his family over trumped-up charges.
