Johnson-Okojie, who is also the Senior Special Assistant to the Kogi State governor on Tourism, Arts and Culture, alongside a team of seven A-list comedians – Bright Okpocha (Basketmouth), Bovi Ugboma, Godwin Komone (Gordons), Bethel Njoku (Senator), Uganda’s Salvador, Bash and Dan D’ Humorous – stormed the Confluence Stadium, venue of the comedy show, performing to the delight of guests.
Featuring celebrities, top officials of the Kogi State government,
senior civil servants, chief executive officers of companies, top military officers and businessmen, renowned comedian, Basketmouth, and other Nigerian rib-cracking lords, were joined by Uganda’s Salvador, to deliver a packed performance, which left the audience spellbound in laghter.
Filled to capacity, venue of the show, the Confluence Stadium, Lokoja, was an array of colourful performances, with Bash and Senator the first to perform at the event. While Bash left the audience in a positive fit of laughs, as he centred his jokes on his early days in the comedy business to the delight of the crowd, Senator also thrilled the audience with equally-hilarious jokes. It was a good way to start the show.
Uganda’s Salvador was next. As he mounted the stage to start his act, it was an indifferent reception that greeted him from the audience, apparently because most of the guests were not familiar with him.
In a few moments, however, he had won the audience over as they warmed up to him and loudly applauded his performance. Having raised the tempo of the show, Dan D’Humorous also did not disappoint as he equally sustained the comedic tempo, taking the audience to another height of wee-deserved excitement.
Then, in what could best be described as the climax of the show, Bovi, Gordons and Basketmouth followed in quick succession and the trio showed why they are regarded as doyens in the comedy industry by delivering an unforgettable night of fun.
Nollywood’s Ebube Nwagbo and Mercy Johnson-Okojie, were anchors at the event and Johnson-Okojie was cheered by her home fans, who praised her as a “daughter of the soil.”
Their male counterparts, Sani Danja and Kanayo O. Kanayo (KOK), attended the event as celebrity guests.
The Glo Lafta Fest train will have its next stop at Port Harcourt, while Onitsha, Makurdi and Ajah will host in the weeks ahead.
