A group, Ejigbo Progressive Youth Movement (EPYM) within the Lagos State chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC), has said that the party chairman, Otunba Henry Ajomale, is not out to impose chairmanship candidate of his choice on people of Ejigbo Local Government Area.
Another group, Asiwaju Progressive Minds (APM), had in a petition titled, “No To Ajomale’s imposition of Candidate,” written to Governor Akinwunmi Ambode, accused Ajomale of trying to impose one Dr Olatunde Olusunmade, his anointed aspirant as APC chairmanship candidate for Ejigbo LCDA in respect of the coming council poll holding in the state.
Ajomale had since denied the allegation, in his reaction, saying the group, which he said was not known to the APC, describing it as a mischief-maker who just wanted to create problem in the party.”
EPYM, which also described APM as faceless organization and “not known to the body polity of Ejigbo since the inception,” affirmed that the allegation of imposition could not stand the test of time as the APC in the state had slated this Friday as the date to hold the primary to pick candidates for coming council poll.
The group, in a statement signed by its Chairman, Comrade Kayode Oke (JP) and General Secretary, Alhaji Kunle Aare, said it suspected after due investigations that what the APM was embarking upon might be the handiwork of anti Ambode elements who were also active in the days of the governorship primaries of 2015.
“The group ‘Asiwaju Progressive Minds’ is not known to the body polity of Ejigbo since the inception.
“The allegation of imposition cannot stand the test of time as APC Lagos State has slated the 26/05/2017 as the date of Primary Elections. We suspect after due investigations that this may be the handiwork of anti Ambode elements who were also active in the days of the governorship primaries of 2015,” EPYM said.
The group expressed worries with what it described as uncultured, unacceptable language and vitriol that had been poured on distinguished personalities and elders of APC all in the name of “aspiration for political offices as suggested in the phrase ‘neutral candidates’ in the purported petition.”
“We are also worried about overt and covert threats of violence being adopted as weapons of politics of today,” the group said.
The group, however, assured that it remained resolute in the superiority of the APC and its leadership as constituted.
