Late Yar’adua’s mother laid to rest in Katsina

The remains of Dada Yar’adua, the 102-year-old mother of former President Umaru Musa Yar’adua, were laid to rest in Katsina on Tuesday afternoon.

The matriarch of the Yar’adua family passed away at the Federal Teaching Hospital in Katsina on Monday after a brief illness.

The deceased is survived by Senator Abdulaziz Yar’adua, who is the Chairman of the Senate Committee on the Army, as well as grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

It was gathered that Vice President Kashim Shettima, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, and the 2023 Labour Party Presidential candidate Peter Obi attended the funeral rites.

Others in attendance included Governor Dikko Radda of Katsina State, Senator Aminu Tambuwal, former Minister of Police Affairs Adamu Maina Waziri, Senator Abdul Ningi, business mogul Dahiru Mangal, and former Governors Dakingari, Shema, and Yuguda of Kebbi, Katsina, and Bauchi states, respectively.

Politicians from all walks of life, as well as friends, neighbors, and well-wishers, gathered at the family compound to pay their last respects to the matriarch.
