The President, Lagos Archdiocesan Catholic Men Organisation (LACMON), Vincent Otiono, has added his voice to condemn the brutal murder of Oluwabamise Ayanwole, a 22-year-old fashion designer who boarded a Bus Rapid Transport (BRT) vehicle but was kidnapped and murdered.
Speaking to journalists on Monday in Lagos on his return from the Catholic Men Organisation of Nigeria (CMON) bi-annual meeting in Abuja and the opening ceremony of the 2022 Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria (CBCN) Otiono said that “brutal and heartless crimes have become too common as sanctity and the sacredness of human lives have been rendered worthless due to the craze for ungodly wealth.”

He further added that “Ritual killings are presently on the increase because of the sudden belief that human parts can become wealth.”
He called on parents to effectively play their role of imparting moral values in their children and wards.
“This is a clarion call to all right-thinking individuals, government, parents, church leaders and civil societies to reverse this trend by speaking up against this evil and devilish trend destroying bright stars who are hacked down in their prime due to the craze for ungodly wealth.”
He advised members of CMON to do their part in the continuous moulding of God-fearing children that will be role models in society.
He advised parents to do more in the area of moral upbringing because it is written in the Bible “bring up a child in the way of the Lord and he or she will never depart from it.”
He also called on the government to stamp out criminal gangs responsible for such ungodly acts.
