The newly appointed Comptroller of Kogi State Vigilante Service, Commander Abdulrahman Mariam Adinoyi (Rtd), has charged the rank and file of the Service to redouble their efforts in tackling crime and criminality in the state.
Commander (Rtd) Adinoyi issued this charge at the end of his tour of the Service’s formations across the 21 Local Government Areas of the state.
The Comptroller said the visit allowed him to successfully complete a comprehensive sensitization and verification exercise across all Kogi State Vigilante Service commands.
This initiative was aimed at boosting the morale of officers and men while also conducting a thorough needs assessment.
According to him, the initiative helped bolster community engagement and optimize local security operations, aligning with the focus of his leadership.
The sensitization phase, which included a series of public engagements aimed at raising awareness about the Vigilante Service’s role and responsibilities, provided the Comptroller an opportunity to meet with traditional rulers, conventional security agencies, community leaders, resident associations, and the general public.
These engagements were intended to offer insights into how the Vigilante Service operates and encourage greater community involvement in local security efforts.
He also disclosed that the verification component of the exercise focused on auditing the current state of vigilante units.
This involved assessing the training, equipment, and operational readiness of personnel, identifying areas for improvement, enhancing awareness of security protocols, and rigorously verifying credentials and security clearances.
The Comptroller also paid traditional homage to the Attah of Igala and President of the Kogi Council of Chiefs, His Royal Majesty Mathew Alaji Opaluwa Oguche Akpa, in Idah. Similarly, he visited His Royal Majesty Ahmed Tijani Anaje, the Ohinoyi of Ebira Land, in Okene, and the Obaro of Kabba, HRM Oba Solomon Dele Owonyi, represented by Honorable Chief Emmanuel O. Funsho.

This goodwill message underscored the state’s recognition of the vital role vigilante personnel play in community safety.
The presentation of the governor’s message served as both a motivational boost and a reaffirmation of the administration’s ongoing support for their welfare and professional development.
Public and local leader feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, emphasizing the initiative’s role in enhancing transparency and fostering a stronger partnership between the Kogi State Vigilante Service and the community.
