NATIONAL Association of Kogi State Students (NAKOSS), the umbrella body of students in the state has lauded the state government over the 300 percent increment in the bursary awards to the students.
The national president-elect of the association, Omeiza Audu, who said this on Thursday also pledged to foster unity among the students and make their welfare a top priority of his administration.
Audu stated this at the Lokoja Township Stadium after he was declared the winner of the presidential election of the body for the 2018/2019 session.
He said the increment in the bursary was a further reflection of the commitment of the Governor Yahaya Bello led administration to the welfare of the students of the state origin.
He said, “Permit me to use this opportunity to reaffirm our commitment to fulfil all our campaign promises of Reforming, Reinstating and Rebranding Kogi Student
“This will enhance harmonious working relationship and friendship among Kogi students in all tertiary institutions across the globe for greater opportunity, leadership and capacity development.
“The quality welfare for students, the reunification of Kogi students both at home and in the diaspora, human capacity development, building a community of enlightened, purposeful and resourceful NAKOSS and a befitting National Secretariat will be our priorities.
“In addition, we shall continue to collaborate with the government and security agencies to ensure adequate security of our students and safety of lives and property in our campuses and in the state at large”.
Audu commended the efforts of the state government for the peaceful conduct of the election for ensuring that the security agencies were on ground to forestall any break down of law and maintain peace and order.
“We are also grateful to the governor for his benevolence and goodwill towards the immediate past Executive of the association and the recent increment of NAKOSS Bursary Allowance with about 300 percent.
“In addition, we thank the governor for his support, love and passion for Kogi students and for making the welfare of the students a top priority in his administration”, he said.
