Kogi: Ohimegye assures unity, peace, development of Igu kingdom

The Ohimegye Igu, Koton-Karfe, HRM Alhaji Saidu Akawu Salihu, has assured that the unity, peace, and development of Igu Kingdom will remain his topmost priority.

The royal father renewed this commitment to ensuring oneness and togetherness among his people when he received in audience the Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Hon. Aliyu Umar, the Member Representing Lokoja Kogi Federal Constituency, Hon. Suleiman Aguye, the Commissioner for Water Resources, Engr. Yahaya MD Farouk, the Caretaker Chairman of Lokoja LGA, Comr Abdullahi Adamu, among other dignitaries who came to pay him a courtesy visit and pray Jumat prayers with him at Koton-Karfe.

The royal father said his major priority is to work towards the development of the kingdom, emphasizing efforts to empower the agrarian and fishing communities within his kingdom, which are also receiving the desired attention.

He promised robust collaboration with organizations and individuals committed to ensuring the upliftment of the living standards of his people.

While expressing gratitude to the Speaker and others for the visit, he solicited more government support for the kingdom to improve infrastructure development, and he lauded the present administration for its efforts in making life meaningful for the people of the state.

Earlier in his remarks, the Speaker, Hon. Umar, described the Ohimegye Igu Koton-Karfe, Alhaji Saidu Akawu Salihu, as a bridge and expressed gratitude for the hands of fellowship he is extending to all sons and daughters of Igu Kingdom towards ensuring peace and development.

The Speaker called on the people to rally around the Traditional Ruler, stating that meaningful and sustainable development can be better attained when the people work in unison.

In his remarks, the Member Representing Lokoja Kogi Federal Constituency, Hon. Suleiman Aguye, reiterated his promises to ensure that the people of Kogi LGA get what is due to them under his representation.

He disclosed that in the coming days, his legislative interventions as they relate to the people of his federal Constituency would be visibly felt in the areas of empowerment and infrastructure.

The Commissioner for Water Resources, Engr. Yahaya MD Farouk, and the Caretaker Chairman of Lokoja LGA, Comr Abdullahi Adamu, also lauded the leadership qualities of the Ohimegye, pointing out that his early steps in making unity paramount gladden their hearts. They expressed optimism in his ability to discharge his traditional responsibilities for the good of the people.

Highlights of the visit included the observation of Jumat prayers by the delegation with the Ohimegye Igu Koton-Karfe amidst hundreds of other worshippers.
