For the second time, some suspected thugs on Monday morning set ablaze a part of the campaign office of the governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) situated in Lokoja.
The office located in the Kpata area of Lokoja, the state capital, which was set ablaze by thugs, is the campaign office of the SDP governorship candidate, Alhaji Muritala Yakubu Ajaka.
The thugs, said to be heavily armed, carried out the dastardly act at around 12 am on Monday.
They set the office building on fire and later gained entrance into the main office, where they destroyed valuable office items, including computers, tables, chairs, television sets, and important documents, among others.
Reacting to the incident, the Deputy Governorship candidate of the party, Hon. Ranti Abenemi, while addressing journalists on the incident, accused supporters of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of being behind the attack on his party’s campaign office.
Abenemi insisted that one of the Senior Special Advisers to the state governor led the thugs to burn the SDP office building.
“The hoodlums came in large numbers and set all the properties in the office on fire, including generators, computers, campaign materials, and televisions.
“SDP and its governorship candidate remain popular, and everything legal will be done to stop this uncivilized attitude,” he said.
Abenemi called on SDP supporters to remain calm and law-abiding.
