Spokesman for the Edo State police command, DSP Moses Nkombe, confirmed the release of Dr Ehanire, who was abducted on September 24, 2017.
Three policemen were killed during the abduction of Dr Ehanire.
He, however, stated that no ransom was paid to secure the release of the zoo manager.
He pointed out that Dr Ehanire was released somewhere around Warri, Delta State, on Saturday and that he got to Benin at about 10.00 pm on Saturday.
“Yes, he has been released. I called OC anti-kidnapping and he said yes, he has been released,” Nkombe said.
Spokesman for the Ogba Zoo and Nature Park, Victor Edwards, also confirmed the release of Dr Ehanire, saying that he had seen him and that “he is hale and hearty.”
