In a statement issued to Tribune Online on Friday and signed by the force imagemaker, DSP Muktar Aliyu, however said the police are making frantic efforts to rescue the Islamic cleric.

The Police statement read in part: “The state police command wishes to categorically state that, on 02/8/2018 at about 1340hrs a distress call was received that one Malam Ahmad Garko popularly known as ‘Al-Garkawy’ went to his farm in Maguzawa village, Igabi LGA of Kaduna State was unfortunately intercepted by unknown Armed Men on Motor bikes alongside two others.
“On receipt of the call, teams of policemen immediately mobilised to the area but hoodlums escaped with the victims.
“However, Tactical Units have been deployed; two persons were so far arrested in connection of the case. Rescue mission remain the utmost priority. Investigation in progress.”
However, a closed member of the family who pleaded for anonymity told the Tribune Online that the kidnappers have made contact with a family member and they are demanding N100m ransom.
Meanwhile, all mosques on Friday in Kaduna metropolis prayed for the safe return of the Islamic cleric. The Chief Imam of Almanar, Sheikh Adams Almanar said it was worrisome now that kidnappers are turning to religious leaders, saying, it is a bad omen for the country and prayed that his kidnappers will release him immediately to his family .
