The popular Islamic cleric Sheikh Abduljabbar Nasiru Kabara, who was found guilty of defaming the personality of Noble Prophet Muhammad and sentenced to death by hanging by the Upper Shari’ah Court Kofar Kudu, has filed an appeal at the Appeal Division of the Kano State High Court.
However, when the case came up today, Monday, for instance, the counsel for the appellant, Barrister Sadik Yusuf, informed the court of his readiness for the hearing, while the counsel for the Kano State government, Barrister Bashir Saleh, sought an adjournment as he was not ready.
But the counsel for the appellant then requested a N20 million cost against the respondents for wasting the appellant’s time.
However, the counsel for the respondents objected to the request by stating that they were served with the court processes in March and not February, as claimed by the appellant’s counsel.
Consequently, the request for cost was withdrawn by the counsel for the appellant.
The case was adjourned to May 9th, 2024, for a hearing.
