A passenger, Anas Iro Danmusa, who was on board the ill-fated Kaduna bound train that came under attack on Monday has returned on Thursday to Facebook to thank his “Facebook family” for intervening when he brought the attack to their notice in a post.
Danmusa on Monday raised an alarm over the attack in a Facebook post. He wrote: “Please this is an emergency. We are inside the train at the moment. Kidnappers planted explosives and the train engines have been ruined. We are helpless. Abuja to Kaduna train. Gunshots still being fired right around us. We are just under the seats praying to God while waiting for help. Since 8pm we hv bn here. Btw Katari to Rijana. I am a living witness…”
A few minutes later, Danmusa wrote: “There is bad network where we are at the moment. It is just luck that I am able to type this. They are actually trying to force themselves inside the train…no help yet. Over 1 hour” and “Please keep sharing….”

However, the passenger who lives in Kaduna but hails from Katsina according to his online profile on Thursday posted a ‘Thank you’ message to all who shared his SOS message.
He wrote: “This is to express my sincere appreciation to the Facebook family for being there for us-those that were on the Kaduna-bound train that was attacked by terrorists on Monday night.
“It was amazing how a large number of facebookers swiftly acted upon our posts by sharing as suggested which led to the message reaching the appropriate people and authorities within just a short time.
“It also led to the message passing across all social media platforms. If not for your efforts, only God knows what would have happened to us.
“As you were there for us, may God also come to the aid of each and every one of you in your time of need. We cannot thank you enough!”
