Kaduna state government has debunked reports of shooting and kidnapping in Bishini village on the Kaduna-Abuja highway, describing the report as false.
It was gathered that a report was allegedly circulated on a WhatsApp platform saying there was a shooting and kidnapping of travellers along the highway by bandits on Wednesday night.
Reacting to the alleged shooting and kidnapping, the overseeing commissioner of the Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, described the report as false.
“The Kaduna State Government is aware of reports being circulated mainly on WhatsApp groups, detailing alleged shootings and kidnappings on the Bishini corridor of the Kaduja-Abuja Road at 9 on Wednesday, June 12, 2024.
The statement noted that so far there’s no confirmation from the traditional rulers, community leaders, or security forces.
Also, it said physical checks and credible human intelligence have not confirmed the alleged incident.
The statement said, “As of this moment, 5:30 p.m., Thursday, June 13, 2024, all traditional rulers, community leaders, and security forces from within and around Katari and Bishini general areas have not confirmed such an incident.
In the same vein, physical tours and painstaking checks with credible human intelligence sources have not provided confirmation of the incident.
“From the foregoing, the report is deemed false and should be disregarded.
According to the statement, “As always, the Kaduna State Government and security forces do not live in denial of security challenges. However, it is unhelpful and unpatriotic to thoughtlessly spread false reports.
“The security forces keeping a constant watch on the Kaduna-Abuja Road and the general area will continue to sustain efforts towards citizens’ safety and security.
“The Kaduna State Government will equally remain open, engaging, and providing support for peace and security.
