THERE was jubilation in the Mafoluku and other parts of Oshodi area of Lagos State following the announcement of the candidates for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2019 general elections.
Anxiety had initially gripped the Lagos community over alleged attempt to manipulate the result of the last Thursday House of Representatives primaries in favour of a serving local government chairman.
It was, however, a relief to the residents on Wednesday as the party in a publication signed by its state chairman, Honourable Tunde Balogun and its secretary, Hon. Dr Wale Ahmed released the name of Basiru Dawodu as the party’s candidate for the Oshodi Federal Constituency 1 in the forthcoming general election.
The residents had last Thursday night protested at the party’s secretariat against what they described as an attempt to manipulate the results of the primaries but were assured by the party officials that justice would be ensured.
Some of the residents, who spoke with the TribuneOnline commended the party for listening to the wishes of the party and assured them of their support in the general election.
One of the residents, Fatai Dawodu, while speaking with the TribuneOnline, described the party’s decision to let the wishes of the residents to prevail as a victory for the people of Mafoluku and the entire Oshodi.
