I am 65 years of age and in very good health. My only problem is that I often forget simple things such as names of my relatives and where I put the car keys among other minor things. I want to know if my forgetfulness is normal or I am suffering from Dementia.

Forgetfulness can be a normal part of aging. As people get older, changes occur in all parts of the body, including the brain. As a result, some people may notice that it takes longer to learn new things, they don’t remember information as well as they used to, or they lose things like their glasses. However, it will be advisable to see a doctor if you have the following habits; asking the same questions over and over again, getting lost in places a person knows well, having trouble following recipes or directions, becoming more confused about time, people, and places, and not taking care of oneself —eating poorly, not bathing, or behaving unsafely.
