THIS year’s edition of the West Africa Innovation (WAI), designed to recognize and celebrate brands and personalities, again, provided an opportunity for chief executives and industry captains to share some insights about their winning strategies, with the audience.
For instance, while speaking on the theme, ‘Strategic Role of Business Leaders in Repositioning African Businesses’, at the event held recently in Lagos, the Head Customer Service, Lafarge Africa Plc, Mr. Olatunji Adeleye, whose brand was one of the 17, recognized at the event, stated that a key strategy that had kept the cement company going, especially in recent times, had been its unflinching commitment to delivering value to its customers.
According to him, one of the ways Lafarge had achieved that, over the years, was by deploying technology to enhance transactions with its customers.
He therefore described the ‘Best Customer Care Award 2021’, won by the company, as an eloquent testimony to the potency of some of the strategies the management had deployed to drive the brand, over the years.
Also speaking at the event, the Chief Executive Officer, XM Mindz, Mr. Fegho John Umunubo, explained that what the marketing and advertising agency had done in the past few years, was to always be on the lookout for new ways of creating value for its teeming big-ticket clients.
Umunubo, whose agency emerged the ‘Most Customer-Driven Marketing Agency of The Year’, added that while the Covid 19 pandemic had taken its toll on businesses, globally, the agency was still able to keep its head above water by constantly providing solutions to its clients.
According to him, rather than work within the confines of the client’s briefs, the agency, most times, put it upon itself to go the extra mile in ensuring its clients get value for their money.
In his welcome address, the Chairman of the Event Planning Committee, Mr. Kamil Chineme, explained that the Award, now in its tenth edition, was designed to celebrate brands and honour leaders, that had ‘moved from one conquest to the other, with awe and sometimes apprehension’.
