The new traditional ruler of Imasayi in Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun State, Oba Kuoye Olalekan Adeleke from Oyesokun ruling house has been installed following the approval by the state governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun.
Speaking at the presentation of staff of office and Instruments of appointment to Oba Adeleke at Christ Church Primary School Playground, Imasayi, Governor Abiodun called on traditional leaders in the community to put their differences aside and work for the progress of their community.
The governor who was represented by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Afolabi Afuape, advised residents of the town to continue to maintain peace, adding that the only way to move the community forward is to join hands with the new monarch.
The governor said: “Following your appointment and installation, you have become a member of Yewa Traditional Council, you are expected to cooperate and collaborate with other monarchs within the Traditional Council and mobilise your subject for effective discharge of their civic and social responsibilities, such as peaceful co-existence, enforcement of law and order, prompt payment of taxes and other levies, among others.”
Earlier in his welcome address, the chairman of Yewa North Local Government Area, Mr Gabriel Ogunyomi, noted that the installation of the new monarch signalled a new beginning that would usher in massive development for the people of the community and congratulated Oba Olalekan on his ascension to the throne.
While responding, Oba Adeleke appreciated the state government under the leadership of Governor Abiodun for the reconstruction of the Imasayi-Igan Okoto-Ayetoro road and promised to use his reign to promote development projects
In a release signed by the Zonal Information Officer, Yewa North Local Government Area, Mr Lateef Akintunde, the installation took place after the demise of Oba Gbadebo Idowu Oni of Aribio III, who joined his ancestors on July 8, 2020.
