I’m a unique channel between God and His people —Tosin Bee

Adejumobi Oluwatosin, popularly known as Tosin Bee is a vibrant gospel minister who is changing the dynamics of the gospel music industry in Nigeria. In this interview with SEYI SOKOYA, he speaks on his sojourn into gospel music ministry and his mission to spread gospel news uniquely.

Would you say that being a gospel musician has been your childhood dream?

It is not a childhood dream, though the gift has been there as an innate ability, and I developed it. As I grow, I realise my calling is to use the singing gift that I have as an instrument of worship to God, and also for the kingdom agenda of gospel propagation.

What eventually inspired your music journey?

My drive for excellence. Most importantly, because our God is a God of excellence, always doing good, anything I present to Him must be good. The experience has been awesome and to the glory of God, we have received God’s backing in the ministry. We have become a unique channel between God and His people. Above all, I am privileged to be a vessel of honour.

What challenges did you face on your way to stardom?

Having the right environment for growth in my field was a problem, as well as financial challenges. Moving from a familiar terrain (Ilorin) to an unfamiliar terrain (Lagos). But God has been so wonderful in directing my path.

How would you describe the music that you typically create?

I will call it a fusion of tungba/alujo music (African percussive music known among the Yourbas in Nigeria) and contemporary gospel. I have a strong background in both genres of music so I merged them and created a style unique to me.

How do you handle advances from female fans?

I try to be friendly with everybody, but there are boundaries that I have put in place to avoid moves that can mess up the ministry God has given me.

What project are you currently working on? Is there any collaboration with other gospel artistes?

I have several songs I am dropping soon as part of an EP. It has collaborations with some gospel artistes, Like Prinx Emmanuel, Mr M and Miracle, Adeyinka Alaseyori, Neon Adejo, and many more.

What favourite song do you love to perform?

That will be “I have to tell the world”. The song talks about being vocal about God’s goodness. Sharing the testimony of God’s goodness to the world. This is my core duty to spread the good news to the world.

What is your advice to up-and-coming gospel musicians?

In all, fear God, keep His commandments, and always strive for excellence.

You are passionate about taking your music beyond the shores of the country. What is the plan for 2024?

This development has been my new assignment to take the good news beyond borders. I did the Praise Unlimited tour 2023, and we had a good turnout in every city we went to, and the people loved the African music and the good news. So, they want us back and this is what brought about the Testimony Tour 2024.

We are gearing up for it. We will be going to the United States, the United Kingdom, and Canada. We have a long list of cities we are going such as Atalanta, New Jersey, Maryland, Chicago, Wisconsin, and London, among other cities.
