WIFE of the Oyo State Governor, Mrs Tamunominini Makinde has avowed her commitment to scaling up HIV/AIDS response in Oyo State towards reducing the prevalence of the scourge in the state.
Makinde who is Chairperson of Oyo State Agency for the Control of AIDS (SACA) gave this assurance at the monthly meeting of SACA with the Local Action Committee on AIDS and other Stakeholders, held at the Conference Room of the Agency.
Makinde who was represented by Mrs Oyeyemi Adesoba said the renewed drive will be in form of increased sensitisation of the general public about HIV/AIDS on the ills of stigmatisation and lackadaisical lifestyle.

“We can do better, we are all responsible for our lives and ourselves. Information and education about HIV is key, we are going to work on how to make useful information available to the general public and review the concerns and requests mentioned by stakeholders at the meeting and do our best to take care of them,” Makinde added.
In his remarks at the event, Project Manager of the Agency, Dr Kayode Ogunkunle, stressed the need for every resident of the state to get tested for them to know their status.
Noting that screening was free in all the health facilities, he emphasized the resolve of the agency to ensure that anyone tested positive is immediately enrolled for care and treatment, free of charge.
