Indigenes of Idanre community in Idanre Local Government Area of Ondo state are set to launch a N500m appeal fund as part of activities to celebrate the 45th coronation anniversary of the Owa of Idanre, Oba Fredrick Adegunle Aroloye.Â
This is as just prominent sons and daughters of the ancient town converged on Abuja for a fundraising dinner to mark the anniversary of the monarch on the throne.Â
The lawmaker representing Ondo Central Senatorial district, Senator Ayo Akinyelure, the House of Representatives member representing Idanre/Ifedore Federal Constituency, Tajudeen Adefisoye, Benson Ajisegiri among others attended the events.
Consequently, prominent indigenes of the ancient Yoruba kingdom resident in Lagos, Ogun and Oyo states will also on Sunday, converge in Lagos to develop a framework for the celebrations.
The chairman of the organising committee, in a statement in Akure, Mr Benson Ajisegiri
said that the event was put together to deliberate on the renovation of Owa’s palace in preparation for the coronation anniversary and preparation and execution of the anniversary proper in a befitting style.
Ajisegiri said the event will also deliberate on the remodelling of the Owa’s palace after the anniversary to a befitting level of a first-class Oba in Yoruba land, as well as other developmental projects for the kingdom.
He said the reign of the monarch had brought unprecedented development to the community, just as he had succeeded in uniting various interests within the community.
He also enjoined other Idanre sons and daughters to mobilise friends for the event.
Speaking on the Lagos launch which is coming up on Sunday, the Chairman of the organizing committee, in a statement in Akure, Dr Anthony Omolola said that the launch became necessary to celebrate Oba Aroloye who had brought a lot of transformation and progress to the town.Â
He listed some of the dignitaries expected at the event to include a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State, Chief Pius Oluwole Akinyelure; the chairman, Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions, Senator Ayo Akinyelure; Chief Babu Akinbobola, and media mogul, Sir Folu Olamiti.
Also expected at the occasion are the former Commissioner of information in Ondo State, Kayode Akinmade and Yemi Olowolabi.
Others include a former Director at the Presidency, Chief Eric Teniola; former chairman of Longman Publishers, Mr Olowoniyi; popular human rights lawyer, Mr Olumide Fusika (SAN)Â Â
Also captains of industry like Chief Akin Olatunji, a former senior official at Shell Petroleum, Chief Biyi Akinseye;Â Chief Henry Olofingorite, a former Commissioner for Establishment and Training in Lagos State, Dr Benson Akintola Oke and a financial expert, Mr Korede Adeyemi.
