The Governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu has said that he cannot deny benefitting from the love of the late Founder, Synagogue Church Of All Nations (SCOAN), Bishop Temitope Balogun Joshua.
Akeredolu explained that the deceased extended his hand of generosity to him and his wife when he became the Governor of Ondo State for the first time.
The Governor made this disclosure while Celebrating the Life and Legacy of the deceased at SCOAN on Friday.
Rotimi stated that the deceased’s impact in his community cannot be forgotten as he voluntarily gave scholarships, awards, youth empowerment, settling electricity bills owed by a number of local governments who had been disconnect for a long time.
“Let us say the truth, even the privileged have also benefitted from his love (sic). I can testify to the good things I have benefitted from him.
“When I won election to be the Governor of Ondo State, we did not have this flight to Akure then.
“So, he drove from Owo to Akure and I think something went wrong with his vehicle in Akure but he managed to get to Owo.
“He said he has come to Owo to wish me well and when he was leaving, he puts something in my pocket. I won’t tell you how much he puts in my pocket (laughs). He also asked me to entertain my wife too. I have to be here. I owe him that duty to be here today.
“In terms of scholarship, awards, youth empowerment, settling electricity bills owed by a number of local governments. He paid for the 4 local governments. He ensured the connection to the national grid after many years of disconnection. He supported the police and also the great Amotekun.
“Arigidi-Akoko where he would not forget his goodies. This was someone who died and the home town closed shops for one week.
“He is very global because a number of us seek a break from spiritual bondage and we have been delivered. This synagogue is the most important tourist centre in Nigeria.
Speaking about his growing up, Akeredolu said the deceased was not born into a privileged home, but been a special breed as he had been performing miracles right from primary school.
He noted that his special feature could have been the rationale behind his great adventure in life.
“He was not born with a silver spoon in his mouth. But, he was a special child from childhood. He was performing miracles right from primary school.
“He was one who could tell his peer don’t go and pray because you can break your leg. He had been very special from birth.
“That could have been the reason for his great adventure in life that we are all witnessing today. He was born with a special gift.
The Governor, therefore, urged all and sundry to imbibe his exemplary life, humility, and simplicity.
“Let us imbibe his exemplary Life. He preached love in most of his teachings. He was a man of peace who remained undeterred.
“He portrayed originality, humble and simple. He was a leader commanding leadership across the globe.” The Governor said.
