Lasisi refused to make an appearance in court after being served a court summon and court hearing.
Kafayat told the court that:”I’m tired of being beaten like a drum by my husband. He fails to take care of me and our five children, all he knows to do is to foment trouble in the home and beat me blue black. I would have been a dead person by now but for our children who always come to my rescue any time he beats me.
“He doesn’t believe in feeding the family. He feels contented as far as his needs are met not bothering to know how we survive each day.
“Our children are not happy having such an irresponsible father like him and do complain of his inadequacies.
“My lord, all I pray the court is to separate us. I’m fed up with him, “she said.
Considering the evidence given by the plaintiff and non appearance of the defendant after two summons, the court president, Chief Ademola Odunade dissolved their wedlock.
Odunade ruled that their children be in the care of the plaintiff while the defendant was ordered to pay N30, 000 per month for their children’s upkeep. He was also asked to be in charge of their education and health care.
