The Medical Director of Federal Medical Center (FMC), Gusau in Zamfara state, Dr Mohammed Bello Kotorkoshi has lauded Governor Dauda Lawal’s efforts in improving security, healthcare, and education in the state.

He highlighted some of the centre’s achievements including the automation of the FMC Gusau services, the building Physiotherapy Department and the construction of a 100-bed capacity mother and baby care complex among others.
The Medical Director requested a Hilux Toyota and an ambulance from the Governor to enhance the centre’s efforts to deliver better healthcare in Zamfara State.
Responding, Governor Dauda Lawal expressed his appreciation for the visit and the kind words of the Medical Director on Government efforts to rescue Zamfara.
Governor Lawal emphasised the importance of equipping the state’s healthcare system, citing the lessons learned from the COVID-19 pandemic.
He revealed that he declared a state of emergency on health, despite the challenges posed by an unsupportive system full of corruption.
The Governor revealed his plan to discuss the challenges of upgrading the FMC Gusau to a university teaching hospital with the Honourable Minister of Health and Social Welfare. Prof Ali Pate.
Governor Lawal also directed his team of experts to meet with the Management of the FMC Gusau to facilitate the allocation of a piece of land for the State Government to build structures in the Centre.
He further assured to support FMC Gusau in critical areas such as sanitation, fencing, and environmental maintenance, highlighting the significance of a clean and serene hospital environment in patient care.
