Sokoto State government has been charged to allow school-based management committee to make an input in annual education budget planning and process.
A journalist and budget Tracking expert, Malam Habibu Harisu made the call during a capacity building workshop for SBMC members on budget literacy in Binji local government area of Sokoto State.
Harisu noted that SBMC’s participation will help in tackling challenges affecting many schools in rural communities and also help the government execute projects that have a direct bearing on the masses.
He added that this will help the government know the exact needs and challenges of most of the schools.

Contributing to the workshop, the chairman SBMC, Government Secondary School, Binji Abubakar Garba Binji called on budget stakeholders and other civil society organisation to intensify their campaign for the inclusion of SBMC in budget planning and process.
He added that there are projects that were executed in some schools which are not the basic needs of the school communities.
Some of the participants said schools in Binji local government area are in dire need of fencing as a result of insecurity and toilet facilities.
They expressed appreciation for the training which they said has broadened their knowledge of the budgetary system.
