Governor Inuwa Yahaya mourns FTH CMD, Dr Alkali

Gombe state Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has received with sadness, the news of the death of Chief Medical Director ( CMD) Federal Teaching Hospital, Gombe, Dr Saidu Abubakar Alkali, describing it as a monumental loss to the state and Nigeria as a whole.

The Governor described the late CMD as a hard-working and core- professional Physician and Consultant with a pedigree for hard work, selfless service and sacrifice.

He said that the late Dr Alkali worked tirelessly to initiate reforms and improvement in the services and operations of the Federal Teaching Hospital in particular, the medical profession and the health sector in general.

“We have indeed lost a great man, seasoned medical practitioner and administrator per excellence.”

“On behalf of the Government and people of Gombe State, I wish to extend our heartfelt condolences to the deceased’s immediate family, Nigerian Medical Association and the entire management and staff of the Federal Teaching Hospital Gombe for this huge loss. May Allah forgive his sins and grant him Aljannat Firdaus”.

Dr Saidu Alkali died in the early hours of today, Tuesday in Abuja after a brief illness as contained in a statement by Ismaila Uba Misilli, Senior Special Assistant, Media and Publicity to the Governor.
