Aare Onakakanfo of Yoruba land, Iba Gani Adams, has called on the government at all levels to partner with the private sector in order to develop the tourism industry, saying that the country would exploit many potentials in the industry with such partnerships as the development of the industry could not be done by government alone.
Adams made the call on Monday in Lagos at a press conference to intimate the general public about the forthcoming 2023 Edition of the Eledumare Festival.
The Yoruba generalissimo described culture and tourism as very veritable tools and immense sources of wealth creation, which the government at all levels needed to exploit through partnerships with various bodies in the venture to boost the country’s economy.
Adam, while unveiling a series of programmes lined up for the festival, which is its 12th Edition, said the festival would hold for 21 days, beginning from March 27 to April 18, and would, according to him, Taekwondo competition, Fashion show, Table Tennis competition, Ayo Olopon, Beach soccer, a special football game, and Harvest of Praise.
Besides, he said the festival would also feature visitation to an orphanage home, a Yoruba quiz competition, a cultural display and a festival float, among others, disclosing that all the programmes would be held in different locations across Lagos and Ogun states.
The Yoruba generalissimo said, “Eledumare is the supreme being and the most high God, noting that the festival was the biggest in our anniversary calendar because it is a reflection of our respect and humility to the most high God the creator of heaven and earth.
“Eledumare Festival is our own little way of showing gratitude to the almighty God who has helped us to sustain the ideals of the foundation for the past 21 years.
“We celebrate Eledumare festival in order to strengthen our beliefs and faith in the most high God, and to spread the gospel of unity, peace, and dedication to the Yoruba cause,” he stated.
