Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya stressed the importance of unity and peaceful co-existence among Nigerians, despite their differences.
He made this statement on Wednesday when he received the leadership of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN) during their courtesy visit to the Government House in Gombe.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya emphasized the need for a more unified Nigeria, stating, “We must remain a united people, regardless of our differences. We share numerous commonalities and a shared destiny.”
He further emphasised, “Together, we can achieve greatness, given our substantial population of productive young individuals, comprising more than 50% of our citizens. Together, we can propel Nigeria toward its desired destination, and I urge the PSN to be part of this endeavour.”
Governor Inuwa Yahaya expressed his gratitude to the PSN for selecting Gombe as the host state for their 2023 Annual Conference, highlighting Gombe’s reputation as a hospitable place.
He stated, “I appreciate you for choosing Gombe as the host state for your 2023 Annual Conference. During your stay, I trust you have experienced our warm hospitality. We firmly believe in a united Nigeria, and that’s why our doors are open to all, whether for business or tourism.”
The Governor also expressed his administration’s readiness to collaborate with the PSN to achieve his administration’s ultimate goal of strengthening the healthcare system and providing quality healthcare services for all citizens of Gombe State.
He emphasized that his administration recognizes the vital role of pharmacy and other medical professionals in healthcare delivery. Therefore, the government is committed to creating an environment where pharmacists and other medical professionals can thrive and make meaningful contributions. The Governor promised continued support and increased investment in their professional development in Gombe State.
The Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN), represented by its President, Prof. Cyril Usifor, commended Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for his commitment to strengthening the healthcare system in Gombe and elevating the state to a noteworthy status.
Prof. Usifor pointed out various projects that have contributed to Gombe’s transformation, including improved roads, functional street lighting, advancements in the healthcare sector, and enhancing Gombe’s reputation as one of Nigeria’s cleanest and most hygienic states.
He explained that their visit to the Government House was to express their gratitude to Governor Inuwa Yahaya for the government’s support in ensuring the success of their annual conference in Gombe. Prof. Usifor praised the unprecedented level of support received, from organizing the summit to various other gestures, describing it as the most significant support the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria has received in recent years.
“We want to show our appreciation to Your Excellency for making sure that our stay in Gombe has been very comfortable. Not only that, you inaugurated the ceremony, and your deputy delivered a keynote address, with your commissioners and other government members also participating. This is an unprecedented gesture,” the PSN President said.
He also mentioned that based on their experience in Gombe, the majority of participants would leave fully satisfied with the level of security, development, and hospitality in the state. The PSN pledged to serve as ambassadors for Gombe State wherever they may find themselves.
