Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has expressed sadness over the demise of a renowned Islamic scholar and Chief Imam of Izala Mosque Number 2 in Gombe, Imam Saidu Abubakar, who died in the early hours of today at the age of 71.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya described the death of the cleric as a huge loss, citing his invaluable contributions to Islamic teachings and broader community development.
“We have indeed lost not just a scholar but a guiding light in our community. His insightful guidance and profound messages through his Friday sermons, and his commitment to spreading knowledge, especially during the holy month of Ramadan through televised appearances, demonstrated his deep commitment to the upliftment of the Ummah,” Governor Inuwa Yahaya stated.
He said the late Imam’s legacy of knowledge, compassion, and service will continue to be remembered and cherished.
The Governor extended his heartfelt condolences to the immediate family of the late Imam, the leadership and members of Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’ah wa Iqamatissunnah, and the entire Muslim Ummah.
He prayed Almighty Allah to forgive the shortcomings of the late cleric and reward his good deeds with Aljannat Firdaus, as contained in a statement by Ismaila Uba Misilli, Director-General, (Press Affairs), Government House.
