Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia has sworn in thirteen new permanent secretaries and charged them to brace up for the new responsibilities ahead of them.
Governor Alia gave the charge on Tuesday during the swearing-in of thirteen new Permanent Secretaries at the government house, Makurdi.
The governor also warned them to abstain from partisan politics and to ensure that their staff adhere to the codes of the civil service, discipline and respect for constituted authorities.
According to the governor, “You must avoid partisan politics and conduct yourselves as responsive and responsible Officers who are duty bound to implement policies and programmes of the administration in line with its seven-point agenda.”
He also warned the new permanent secretaries against any act of misconduct that is capable of tarnishing the image of the government saying that anyone found culpable would be made to face appropriate sanctions.
He said, “Our eyes would be placed on you not to police you but to ensure that you do the right things all the time.
The governor however assured the new permanent secretaries of his administration’s support and further advised them to always discharge their duties with the fear of God.
