Gov Abubakar in early lead in Bauchi, wins 11 LGs PDP wins 5

Bauchi State Governor, Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar who is seeking reelection for a second term under the platform of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC), is coasting to victory in Saturday’s gubernatorial election in the state as he is currently leading his closest rival, Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir of main opposition PDP with a total of 3,000 votes.

Going by the results so far declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), as collated by the Returning Officer of the gubernatorial election, Prof Kyari Mohammed, the Governor has so far won majority votes in 11 local government areas of the state while the PDP candidate, Senator Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir, a former FCT Minister, won in five local government areas.

The LGAs that the APC candidate won are Dass, Giade, Toro, Warji, Jama’are, Gamawa, Shira, Itas/Gadau, Ningi, Katagum and Dambam LGAs while the PDP candidate emerged tops in Alkaleri, Zaki, Bogoro, Misau and Kirfi LGAs.

While the results of Bauchi, Darazo, Ganjuwa LGAs are being expected at the time of filing this report (6.10 pm) , a decision was yet to be taken on the result from Tafawa Balewa LGA following the crisis said to reportedly occur at the local government collation centre.
