Gay marriage is evil, unacceptable ― Umuahia Methodist Archbishop

The Methodist Archbishop of Umuahia, His Grace, Most Rev (Dr) Chibuzo Raphael Opoko, has said that gay marriage is evil, not spiritual and not cultural.
Archibishop Opoko stated this in Umuahia after the induction of Rev. Favour Ubiaru-Ekwuru as the Minister-in-charge, Grace  MCN and the reception of Rev. Nwanze Ndukuba as a minister in the church.
According to him, “the recent decision of the British Methodist Conference does not reflect a decision of the World Methodist Conference. So it does not apply to Methodist Church Nigeria.”
“We have our stand, our African culture has a stand, the Bible has its stand and we have already expressed that. Our Prelate has addressed that.
“How can a man marry a man? How can a woman marry a woman? If a man had married a man, would there have been procreation? What God has made, he made them male and female and they became one. He never created male and male. What they are advocating is so evil and unacceptable,” Opoko reiterated.
“Methodist Nigeria is autonomous and acephalous as in 1962, we became autonomous as we are no longer part of British Methodism.
“In 1973, we became an indigenised church and became acephalous. That means we are not under the control of anybody. We are on our own”, the clergyman maintained.
According to Emerson Nwakanma, a knight of the church, “the people that accepted gay marriage are very wrong. It is against the will and commandment of God as God has already condemned immorality, fornication and adultery. How much more guy marriage which is worst than those things.”
The Methodist Church Nigeria Prelate, he said had come out openly to condemn it, adding “it is the stand of the Methodist Church Nigeria, any time, any day.”
Earlier in his sermons, Archbishop Opoko urged faithful to work together as a family and show love to one another, while Emerson Nwakanma urged the inductee ministers to be prayerful and do the work of God.
Speaking later, the chairman of the induction committee, Bro Emmanuel Anamelechi, prayed God to give the inductees power, knowledge and the grace to work for Him.

16 Lay Preachers were also inducted.
