Gambari, an appointee of global standard ― APC governors

The forum of governors on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the Progressives Governors Forum (PGF) have described Professor Ibrahim Agboola Gambari assumption of office as Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari as a challenge to appointees of the government.

The former External Affairs Minister and former Nigeria representative at the United Nations replaced the immediate past occupant of the office, Mallam Abba Kyari who died last month due to health complications from COVID-19.

Professor Gambari formally assumed office on  Wednesday.

The PGF in a statement signed by its Chairman and Kebbi State governor, Abubakar Atiku Bagudu said Professor Gambari’s rich credentials and vast international network were a challenge to those seeking  appointments in  government to “aim to achieve global standards especially on matters of national development.”

The statement read in part: “The Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) congratulates Prof. Ibrahim Agboola Gambari on his appointment as the Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR.

“As governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), we rejoice with you and on this auspicious occasion reaffirm our unflinching commitment to continue to work with Mr President and all his dedicated team at the federal level to achieve the vision of our party of taking Nigeria to the Next Level in line with all our campaign promises and provisions of our party’s manifesto.

“Given your vast knowledge, experiences, discipline and loyalty to Nigeria, we are confident that your assumption as Chief of Staff will further inspire as well as challenge all appointees of government to aim to achieve global standards especially on matters of national development. “For us in the PGF, we are truly inspired by your leadership accomplishments, which is globally acknowledged and look forward to drawing immensely from your rich reservoir of experiences, insights and foresight in the management of governmental responsibilities.

“Pursuant to our commitment to supporting President Buhari, you can count on our support, individually and collectively at all times. We wish you all the best and assure you of the Progressive Governors Forum’s continued support and goodwill. ”
