Tribune Online went around the major petrol stations in the capital city and reports that all major marketers had closed their stations, while independent marketers are selling between N400 and N450.
It was observed that, as soon as the speech was made, those who were selling closed their stations and as they opened on Tuesday morning, the price had increased.
There is however lamentation everywhere in the state, commuters and motorists are calling on the newly inaugurated president to his another speech that would reverse the train.
“It is too early in the administration for us to face this kind of untold hardship. We just came out of a cash crunch that also resulted in a fuel hike. We were getting a sigh of relief that fuel prices were gradually coming down and we are facing this again.
“APC government has really caused Nigerians pains and untold hardship. How did Jonathan manage this country that even when other countries went into recession, Nigeria did not. They should consult Jonathan and his team so we can come out of where we are in this country,” a commuter decried.
