THE 650 matriculates of the Federal School of Surveying have been charged to be fully conscious of the reason they are in the school, do away with any engagement that can jeopardise their academics pursuit and to spend time wisely in order to graduate with good grades.
The rector of the institution, Professor Dupe Olayinka-Dosunmu, who gave the charge at the matriculation ceremony of the 2022/2023 academic session, also advised the new students to keep away from associations that could tarnish their image and that of their families.
The guest lecturer at the event, Dr Airen Edale Adetimirin, equally encouraged the matriculates to be focused and put in their best so as to finish strong and to graduate with top grades.
“As students, your primary goal in this institution is your academics and all other things are secondary. It is expected that you handle it with every sense of seriousness. This goal should always be at the back of your mind on a daily basis.
“Academic motivation is another indicator for being successful in your studies. You must have high academic motivation which will be your driving force to achieve good success,” he said
Adetimirin also encouraged parents and guardians to be up and doing in their responsibilities to their wards during the course of their programme.
The students were admitted into the four faculties of the institution, namely Surveying and Geoinformatics, Cartography and GIS, Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing and General Analysis.
