FRSC diverts traffic on Lagos-Ibadan expressway

THE Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) has enjoined motorist’s enroute Ibadan from Lagos, and vice versa, to ply the Iperu route to the Old Lagos-Ibadan expressway through Ode-Remo before they then access the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.

This followed the chaotic traffic situation on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway on Wednesday, resulting from an ensuring fire outbreak from a fallen tanker.

The commission conveyed this information in a statement by its Corps Public Education Officer, Mr Bisi Kazeem.

To arrest the situation, the FRSC said it had positioned its operatives from Ogere to manage traffic while operatives from Sagamu Fire station had been deployed to prevent an escalation of fire.

“An unidentified tanker reasonably suspected to be laden with petroleum product fell on the carriageway and resulted in a fire outbreak thereby constituting chaotic traffic situation within the area.”

“Fire Service, Sagamu have been contacted and are already on ground. Meanwhile, FRSC operatives from Ogere are well positioned to manage the traffic situation with a view to forestalling any ugly incident.”

“It is recommended that motorists coming from Lagos to Ibadan should pass through Iperu to Old Lagos-Ibadan expressway and come out at Ode-Remo and then connect back to Lagos-Ibadan expressway while motorists from Ibadan going to Lagos are also advised to use the same route,” Kazeem said.
