Despite the fanfare that greeted the 25th anniversary of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), some former staff of the regulatory agency have expressed their displeasure at the non inclusion of the surviving general managers and directors at the programme.
One of the ex workers who spoke under the condition of anonymity though expressed excitement at the story told on how the agency was created alongside the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) as the last act of the then departing military administration in 1999 by a former minister of aviation, Captain Benoni. Briggs.
The former worker however lamented how none of the pioneer workers who could tell the story of how the NCAA was started.
According to the former worker: “I am really thrilled at the story of Captain Benoni Briggs on the creation of NCAA and NAMA as the last act of the departing Military administration in 1999. Also, the encouraging statement of the Minister of aviation and aerospace development, Festus Keyamo and that of the former director general, Dr Harold Demuren.
“But unfortunately, there was no one to tell the story about how we actually started the NCAA, the crafting of the vision and mission, the recruitment of staff, commencement of administration, conditions of service, salary structure etc.

“It would have been apt to have invited some of us surviving general managers, acting directors and directors who started the NCAA from the scratch in the absence of our three succeeding Director generals who are late. That is the only way the story of Captain Briggs can have traction. It is well”.
