Follow in Prophet Muhammad’s footsteps, NACOMYO urges youths

MUSLIM youths in the country have been implored to follow in the footsteps of Prophet Muhammad in their everyday living in order to reap rewards of physical and spiritual enrichment.

The coordinator of the National Council of Muslim Youth Organisations (NACOMYO) in the Alimoso zone of Lagos State, Mr Ibrahim Dawud, gave this admonition at an event marking the 1443 A.H. Hijrah celebration of the zone in Lagos.

“We should learn from the migration of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). The migration, though hard, led him and his disciples to spiritual enlightenment and physical alertness with success in this world and the hereafter,” Dawud said.

Commenting on the economic situation of the country, the NACOMYO coordinator advised youths to embrace self-employment for empowerment.

He also implored them to embrace unity and act in accordance with the dictates of Allah.

Delivering the Hijrah lecture, the Chief Missioner of FATGAN Islamic Society of Nigeria, Sheikh Abd Mojeed Owoade, attributed the hardship currently being faced in the country to the fact that people have disobeyed the commandments of Allah.

He gave the institution of zakat, kindness to the underprivileged and humility on the part of the poor as some of the antidotes to poverty and unrest in the country.

He also challenged Muslims to embrace agriculture to address the problem of hunger in the country.

The occasion also witnessed the conferment of merit awards on some Muslim personalities like Mr Ademola Adefajo, Alhaji Abd Mojeed Owoade, Alhaja Dhikhratullahi Matesun and Alhaja Nike Afusat.

The event was also used to launch some products manufactured by the organisation.
