ACTING President Yemi Osinbajo has directed the Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, to release the sum of N1.6 billion to 16 states affected by flooding in the ongoing raining season.
Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr Femi Adesina, who disclosed this to State House correspondents in Abuja on Wednesday, said the release of the fund was meant to cushion the effects on victims.
The presidential spokesman said the money would be drawn out of the Federal Governent’s Ecological Account domiciled in the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
According to him, the Minister of Finance was directed to release the money to the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) for onward distribution to the affected states.
