THE Chairman, First Bank of Nigeria Limited, Mrs Ibukun Awosika has said that it new product, FirstGem account was designed to empower women, urging women in Nigeria to jettison the idea of living a life to impress people around them, instead, she admonished them to build a life that will impress their constituency.
Mrs Awosika made this appeal on Tuesday in Ibadan while speaking at the launching of FirstGem, the first female-centred bank product in Nigeria and a brain-child of First Bank Nigeria Plc, in Oyo State, held at the Civic Centre, Idi-Ape, Ibadan.
FirstGem, is an account designed specifically with the needs of women in mind. The account, according to Awosika is ideal for all women aged 18 years and above, whether working professionals or entrepreneurs and comes in variants; savings and current account.
She noted added that FirstGem account has an account maintenance charge of N0.09 mile per month, with lots of benefits like access to trainings on women empowerment, access to business advisory services for accessing Bank of Industry (BOI) intervention at single digit interest rates, access to annual medical and health programmes sponsored by First Bank for women among others.
Mrs Awosika said a lot of Nigerian women today live to “impress the society and people around them by spending their income on clothing items” like Aso-Ebi just to make statement, urging them to change their attitude and save the same capital for a better tomorrow.
