Construction and civil engineering services firm, Dutum Company Limited, has donated instructional materials to about 150 pupils of Ogbogbo community in Ijebu-Ode area of Ogun State.
Items distributed to the pupils who had just resumed for the 2021/22 academic session include exercise books, drawstring bags, mathematical sets, stationeries, and stationary cases.
The drive which was part of the firm’s programme tagged “Dutum Back to School Initiative” was held at the First Baptist Church Erigo, Ogbogbo in Ijebu area of the state.
Dutum Managing Director, Mr Temitope Runsewe, who handed over the materials said the drive was put together as part of the firm’s LIFT project aimed at empowering young ones through scholarships, financial support, counselling, and mentorship.
He also noted that the donation was hinged on the fact that COVID-19 pandemic and inflation have greatly impacted the ability of most parents in rural communities to provide for their wards.
“The support is provided by Dutum to bridge this gap and ease the pressure on families to provide essentials to school children who are returning for a new academic year.
“We believe in supporting communities where we operate. We will continue to put people over profit as we pursue our vision to bring out the hidden beauty of the African continent through quality infrastructure development,” he noted.
In his remarks, representative of First Baptist Church Erigo, Ogbogbo, Revd. Ade Akanji, enjoined beneficiaries to take the support as a mandate to focus on their studies and excel to the betterment of their community.
