Gift card, a prepaid stored-value money card also known as voucher for receiving and sending money across digital platform has become popular among younger generation especially in Nigeria. One peculiar challenge it faces is the unavailability of reliable platforms to redeem and perform transactions.
In addressing the challenge, Mr Samuel Faniyi, a Nigerian-born tech enthusiast and serial entrepreneur has launched an application called 1MinutePay. The platform offers a convenient and flexible way of exchanging value and can be used to purchase various goods and services online.
Speaking during a recent press engagement, Faniyi noted that the innovation will ease some of the burden experienced by gift card traders and also offer an attractive exchange rate.
“We are excited about the launch of 1MinutePay, this innovation, i believe would help to curb some of the issues Nigerians encounter during the process of redeeming gift cards in Naira”, he said
Fascinated about gaining market advantage and also addressing some misconceptions people have about the voucher, he added: “Also, it is important to note that the value of gift cards varies depending on the brand and denomination. Gift cards can be valued in dollars, pounds, or other foreign currencies, but to use them in Nigeria, they need to be converted to Naira.
“The gift card rate or exchange rate for converting gift cards to Naira is not fixed and fluctuates depending on the prevailing market conditions
“To redeem gift cards in Nigeria and get the best gift card rate, you need to find a trusted platform that offers competitive rates and that is why we launched 1MinutePay”.
He stressed that the application has a user-friendly interphase that allows seamless transactions in cash and bitcoin. The app supports a wide range of gift cards from various brands, including Amazon, iTunes, Google Play, Steam, and others.
While explaining how users can access and perform transactions on the app, be said : “To redeem gift cards on 1MinutePay, you need to create an account and provide the necessary details about the gift card you want to sell.
“If you have gift cards that you want to convert to Naira, the process of redeeming them is straightforward. You can simply select the gift card you want to sell on the 1MinutePay app, enter the denomination and other details, and wait for the app to verify the card. Once verified, the app will display the current gift card rate and the amount you will receive in Naira”.
With the versatility and exceptional features on the application, its no doubt 1MinutePay could become the favourite gift card trading platform in Nigeria and arguably across Africa.
