Final-year student stabs sex worker to death in Enugu

A final-year student in the Department of Public Administration, Institute of Management and Technology (IMT), Enugu State, Emmanuel Ezeugwu, has been arrested by the police in the state for allegedly murdering a commercial sex worker.

Tribune Online gathered that Ezeugwu, who was said to be living off-campus at Number 16, Onuato Ogui, Enugu, had in the night of October 22, allegedly picked up a commercial sex worker at a red-light district located around Rangers Avenue in Enugu metropolis, to pass the night with him after reaching an agreement of N4,000 for the service.

Trouble was said to have started when the sex worker requested for time to begin her ‘service,’ insisting that she had to finish inhaling the substance she was holding to increase her libido and commence the assignment.

The disagreement was said to have led to a fight between the duo, which resulted in the death of the lady.

Confirming the incident, the Enugu State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Ebere Amarizu, said: “According to Ezeugwu, his request did not influence anything, as the deceased allegedly requested to finish what she was inhaling in order to be in the mood for the ‘business’ of the night.

The police image-maker further said: “The accused explained that after several hours of pressurising the lady without any positive response from her, he slept off, only to wake up before 3:00am.

“The suspect, thereafter, demanded the lady leave his room since the aim of bringing her appeared to have been defeated.

“At that juncture, according to the accused person, the deceased resisted the move, while warning the accused person to beware, as she would not succumb to any threat or whatsoever.

“She later went for a kitchen knife kept at the kitchen spot in Ezeugwu’s room after allegedly biting the accused.

“Ezeugwu further revealed that a fight suddenly broke out between the two, as the deceased tried to stab him with the kitchen knife.

“He said he overpowered the deceased and the kitchen knife went straight to her stomach, and finally, he stabbed her on the neck region, leading to her death.

“The suspect revealed that on noticing that the sex worker had given-up the ghost, he decided to wrap and hide her in his room, while thinking of what to do next.

“Meanwhile, people living in the same compound with him suspected something was going on while they were fighting, so they alerted members of the neighbourhood watch group of the area, who then alerted the police.

“However, by that time, the suspect had left his area, and was on his way to Lagos, before he was apprehended by operatives of the command through intelligence information.”
