Expedite passage of North-Central Development Commission bill, Senator Gyang urges Senate

Senator I. D. Gyang, co-sponsor of the Bill on the North Central Development Commission in the 9th Senate, has urged the 10th Senate and House of Representatives to speed up legislative action on the passage of the North Central Development Commission Bill.

Senator Gyang says the call has become necessary following the creation of the Ministry for Regional Development, adding that the Development Commissions for the Niger Delta, North East, North West, South East, and South West have been established by law, while the only geopolitical zone still outstanding is the North Central.

He stated that since the 2025 Budget will provide for the Ministry for Regional Development, it is incumbent on the Senate and House of Representatives to hasten legislative action on the passage of the Bill to ensure that the North Central is not left out of the budget.

According to him, the North Central could not afford to be left out of the well-conceived regional development initiative by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Senator Gyang stated that he is convinced that even the President is eagerly awaiting the Bill on the North Central Development Commission from the National Assembly to assent into law.
