Former lawmaker, who represented Kwara South senatorial district in the eighth National Assembly, Senator Rafiu Ibrahim, has canvassed for the acquisition of requisite knowledge and skills among Nigerian leaders.
Speaking with journalists in Ilorin on Monday, Senator Ibrahim, who said that continuous development is the key to better leadership, added that acquisition of requisite skills of public leadership is never enough.
On why he is seeking more knowledge about public policy and leadership, the former legislator said, “Gaining from perspectives of global leaders and accomplished scholars prepares one for greater challenges in public service.
“As such, continuous learning is more than a personal ambition for me. It is a will to keep myself ready for new challenges of leadership most especially those that are central to human capital development and building sustainable institutions”.

The lawmaker, who had just completed an executive leadership programme at the John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University, United States, bagged an executive certificate in ‘Senior Managers in Government’; the third executive certificate he has earned from the School in the last four years.
The former legislator has previously bagged an executive certificate in Innovation for Economic Development (2016) and another in Leadership for the 21st Century: Chaos, Conflict and Courage (2018).
Sharing the news on Twitter via his verified handle, the ex-lawmaker tweeted “Excited to be back again in Harvard Kennedy School of Government for the third Executive Program within four years, which earned me Executive Certificate in Public Policy.
Senator Ibrahim is a leader who values skills and knowledge acquisition, which he demonstrated through his various educational interventions and supports for students and youths of his constituency when he represented them at the Senate.
